Remove duplicate lines from any list
Mailing lists, keyword lists, product codes, song titles: lists collect repeats. This tool removes duplicate lines instantly and keeps the first copy of each line in its original order, so nothing gets shuffled around.
By default it treats “Apple” and “apple” as the same, ignores stray spaces, and drops empty lines. Turn those options off for an exact match. Tick List what was removed to see exactly which lines were repeats.
How to remove duplicates
- Paste your list into Your list, one item per line.
- The list without duplicates appears on the right straight away, with a count of what was removed.
- Click Copy result, or Download .txt to save it as a file.
Questions
Does it change the order of my list?
No. The first time each line appears, it stays where it was. Only the later repeats are removed. To sort the list too, use Sort Lines.
Can I remove duplicate rows from a spreadsheet?
Copy a column from Excel or Google Sheets and paste it here. For whole rows with several columns, use Remove Duplicate Rows.
How long can my list be?
Hundreds of thousands of lines work fine. Everything runs in your browser, so the list never leaves your computer.
