Change the speed or key of any song
This free tool changes speed and pitch separately. Slow down a song to learn a guitar part or dance routine while it stays in the same key, speed up a lecture or podcast without the chipmunk effect, or change the key of a song by semitones so it suits your voice, without changing its tempo. Tick Change speed and pitch together for the classic “nightcore” or “slowed” sound.
How to change speed and pitch
- Drop a song or recording onto the box.
- Move the Speed slider (0.5× is half speed, 2× is double), or click a preset.
- Move the Key slider: each step is one semitone. +2 raises it a whole tone; −12 is an octave lower.
- Click Preview to hear 15 seconds. Adjust until it sounds right.
- Choose a format and click Save.
Questions
How do I transpose a song for singing?
Move the Key slider down a few semitones if the song is too high for you, or up if it's too low. The speed stays the same.
Does it affect the sound quality?
Small changes sound natural. Big changes in speed or key (beyond about 30% or 5 semitones) can sound slightly phasey. That's normal for time-stretching.
