Remove the background from any photo
This free background remover cuts out people, products, pets and objects automatically. Use it for product photos on a clean white background, profile pictures, passport-style photos, stickers, thumbnails and presentations. Download a transparent PNG, or put the subject on a solid color, a blurred version of the original, or any picture you choose.
Unlike most background removers, the AI runs entirely in your browser. Your photos are never uploaded, there's no limit on how many you do, and results are full resolution. The first time, your browser downloads the cut-out tool (about 44 MB) and keeps it for next time.
How to remove a background
- Drop a photo onto the box (or click to choose, or paste).
- Wait a few seconds. The first photo takes longer while the tool downloads.
- Choose a background: Transparent for a PNG cut-out, Color (try white for products), Blurred photo for a portrait look, or Another picture.
- If a thin outline of the old background remains, raise Trim edges. Use Edge softness for smoother hair and edges.
- Tick Crop to the subject to remove empty space, then click Download.

What photos work best?
A clear subject that stands out from the background: people, products, animals, cars. Very busy scenes or subjects the same color as the background are harder.
Why save as PNG?
PNG and WebP keep the transparent background. JPG can't be transparent, so it's filled with white unless you choose a background.
Is it really free?
Yes, with no limits or watermark. It uses your own computer's power instead of a paid server.
