Compress videos without uploading them
Phone videos are huge: a minute of 4K can be 300 MB or more. This video compressor makes them small enough to send on WhatsApp, attach to an email, or upload quickly, while keeping them sharp. Unlike most online compressors, your video never leaves your computer: it's compressed in your browser using your device's own video encoder, which is fast and private.
How to compress a video
- Drop a video onto the box. It appears in a player so you can check it.
- Choose Balanced for most videos. For a size limit, choose Under a size and click a preset such as 16 MB for WhatsApp.
- Lower the Resolution to save the most space: 720p looks great on phones and is a fraction of 4K's size.
- Click Compress video. When it's done, compare in the player and click Download smaller video.
Questions
How long does it take?
Usually faster than the video's length on a modern computer, because it uses your graphics chip. Long 4K videos take longer.
Why is the result not exactly the size I asked for?
“Under a size” aims a little below your limit to be safe, so the file usually lands just under it.
Which browsers work?
Recent Chrome, Edge and Safari, on computers and most phones. Firefox may not support every video format.
