Which color format should I use?
- HEX and RGB: websites, apps and most design tools.
- HSL: easy to tweak by hand. Change the lightness to get a lighter or darker version.
- CMYK: printing. Values here are a simple conversion; your printer's profile may differ slightly.
Questions
What does the contrast ratio mean?
It measures how readable text is on a background. WCAG asks for at least 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text.
Can I paste a color with transparency?
Yes. 8-digit HEX (#RRGGBBAA), rgba() and hsla() are understood, and the alpha value is kept in the HEX, RGB and HSL results.
